Better Than Nothing: Streit's Rights

While it was no surprise to many of us that Mark Streit would be testing the waters of Free Agency and had turned down the NY Islanders best offer, general manager Garth Snow hates letting an asset go for nothing.

Early today word come that he had indeed made at least something out of nothing. Snow had traded Mark Streit's rights for a fourth round selection in 2014 and a depth player in Shane Harper.

Harper, a right winger born in 1989 in Valencia California was playing for the AHL's Phantoms and with the ECHL's Titans. He has just completed the last year of his ELC and will most likely be a depth player for Bridgeport. Or should we say "spare parts"? Maybe.

Now, according to TSN's Bob McKenzie in order to make cap space for a Streit contract, the Flyers will have to negotiate compliance buyouts with Bryzgalov and Briere. This will be intersting. Compliance buyouts (according to Mr. McKenize and the CBA) can't happen until 48 hours after the end of the Stanley Cup finale.

Sideboards: Frans Nielsen will be at the Isles team store on Thursday from 6 - 7:30 pm. Season Ticket holders will receive special discount pricing on items. Come out and see what they have on sale.

If you' can't make it there, then how about a special sale on 6/15 at the Isles Pro Shop in Dix Hills from 10 - 4 pm. They're calling for "huge deals." That way they won't have to pack them up for the move.
