Mikhail Grigorenko staying with the Sabres? Really?

I will not be pleased with the move of Grigorenko remaining with the Sabres for the season. It makes no sense to me to bring him back and have him play on the 3rd or 4th line. The only thing I want to see is him on the 1st or 2nd line, but still I don't like the move.

He is unlikely to play Wednesday in Boston, which means he'd play four games with Buffalo.

Grigorenko would be better off finishing the season in Rochester. We've already seen what he did when he was with the Sabres. I don't expect much different. Put him in Rochester and we'll worry more about him next season. No point in bringing him up with four games left.

While there is no Sabres game tonight, there is action around the NHL that Buffalo fans should keep an eye on:
Florida @ Islanders
Rangers @ Flyers
Lightning @ Jets

The teams in bold are the ones that can help the Sabres tonight. However, if the Rangers and Islanders both win tonight, it would be a big blow to Buffalo's already slim playoff chances.

Right now, in my mind, the Islanders are the team to catch. That could change after tonight...

Here is the remaining Isles schedule. After tonight against Florida, they have five straight road games to end the season. What Buffalo needs to try and do is get within a point of them before that last game.

It is a long shot, but who knows what can happen? If you want even more info on the Sabres playoff race, check out my site and there is a full page dedicated to Buffalo's playoff implications.
