It is with a heavy heart that I sit here to write the following blog. I speak on behalf of everyone in Bolts Nation when I say that my thoughts are with the people of Boston, and all those who have been affected by today’s tragedy.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed goaltender Ben Bishop to a two year contract extension. With the signing, Steve Yzerman has basically sent a memo to the hockey world indicating that he is more than content to head into next season with Ben Bishop and Anders Lindback holding down the fort in net. For the Lightning, there hasn’t been this much youth and stability in goal for years.

Since being acquired at this season’s trade deadline in a deal that sent Cory Conacher and a fourth round draft pick to the Ottawa Senators, Bishop has been one of only a few bright spots on the Lightning roster. While it’s easy to look at his 2-3-0 record in a Lightning uniform and write him off, his 0.916 save percentage in those games proves that he is more than capable of handling the duties that come with being the Lightning’s number one goaltender. His 3.21 goals against average is more of a reflection of the team in front of Bishop than it is on himself.

With a stable, young, and promising goaltending tandem, Yzerman and company can spend the summer focusing on the real issues plaguing this team. Implementing a "60 minute culture" is going to be so key for this Lightning team moving forward. Given the caliber of player laden throughout the roster, the Bolts should be competitive more often than not. With Jon Cooper set to make a real stamp on this group as it moves into next season, it's hard not to be excited about this Lightning team's potential.

With The Masters over, I'll be back tomorrow with a game preview for the Lightning's game against the Winnipeg Jets. As always, thanks for reading.
