Is It Much Ado About Nothing?

During Saturday's loss in Winnipeg, there was a shot on television showing the Flyers bench in the third period during a pause with goalie Steve Mason over at the bench.

As he approached, Ilya Bryzgalov shut his eyes and acted like he was sleeping or bored or whatever. He often makes faces and creates theatrics which is part of his makeup.

Which brings us to this question this morning: amid reports - vehemently denied by players and others _ that Bryz fell asleep in a team meeting and was punished for such by being benched in the Islander game ...

Do YOU believe he actually fell asleep or do you think this is another example of Bryz being Bryz at at a team meeting? In other words, shutting his eyes to make a statement or have some fun with teammates?

When players say the meetings are short and the room is brightly lit, I find it hard to believe a player can actually fall asleep.

But I completely agree that knowing the facial expressions we see from Bryz during games, and even after games in interviews with the media, it's easily conceivable he did this to evoke some kind of response.

But it that were the case, would such an incident deserve being benched in arguably the biggest game of the season by coach Peter Laviolette?

Isn't that cutting your throat to make a point?

So let's conduct a poll. Do you think Bryz "fell asleep" at a team meeting or ... do you feel he was making some kind of statement by closing his eyes?
