I have been on vacation and have had little opportunity to blog recently, but I did want to drop a note today before the Ducks take on the trade riddled Dallas Stars tonight at the Honda Center.

First off I think the Ducks did a great job with their social media night on Wednesday. It was a unique way for fans to enjoy a game and it always helps when the home team wins in relatively easy fashion. One of the most unique moments game in the second intermission when a multi-section flash mob broke out in the upper deck... If you haven't seen it yet, here it is.

I guess when your team is 25-7-5 and lead the Pacific Division by 10 points over the hated L.A. Kings a little dancing is warranted every now and again. If the Ducks keep it up they will cruise to the franchises' second division title and first since they won the Stanley Cup in 2006-07.

Need some more reason to dance?

*Anaheim has played 18 games at home and won 14 of them - that is the best 18 game at home in Ducks history.,

* Getzlaf and company need just six points in their final 11 games to clinch a playoff birth.

* A win tonight, coupled with a Pittsburgh loss and the Ducks are back in the number two spot in the NHL, a mere point shy of idle Chicago.

* Viktor Fasth has stopped 84 of 89 shots over his last three starts.

* Getzlaf had a goal and two assists in his last game. Another night like that and he just might slip into the top 5 in NHL scoring. So much for being washed up, huh?

The Ducks season almost took a turn for the worse when Getzlaf and his hockey stick got tangled up in the third period on Wed. Getzlaf was helped to the locker room with an ankle injury, but thankfully he returned a few minutes later and beat Kari Lehtonen over his shoulder with a nifty backhander for his 13th goal of the season and 150th of his career...He then took the rest of the night off and may not play tonight.

The Stars try to avoid a three game sweep tonight at the Honda Center. After trading away their captain and anybody else of value and losing the first two games by a score of 9-2 it doesn't see likely. However Bruce Boudreau is not letting his team take the game too lightly.

"To beat any team three times in a row is difficult, but we're going to try." - Boudreau

How inspiring!

Boudreau didn't rule out using newly acquired Mathew Lombardi in Getzlaf's place on the top line. That should be fun.

It will be Fasth vs. Lehtonen once again.
