The New York Islanders will not be sellers this year, and we as fans should be happy with that. It will make for a very quiet day, but the fact that there is no fire-sale in Uniondale is great.

Art Staple has just tweeted that additional talks with Evgeni Nabokov's agent about an extension are ongoing, but nothing final as of yet.

I do not have trade rumor sources. I did shoot one email just simply asking if there will be any 'surprises' today. I have not received a response as of yet.

Could the Captain be moved should talks with his agent go south? That is possible, but only a smidgeon. It would all be dependant on what the Isles would get from the deal.

But they will keep their young talent and grow the team. It takes a long time to cultivate. We don't want to rip up the plants before they're ripe.

10:59 am: As expected Andrey Pedan has agreed to a 3 year ELC and has signed an ATO with Bport.

11:22 am: Staple has mentioned that the Isles are loooking at CHI rookie Brandon Saad, but that the Hawks want a lot for him. The 6'1" American born left winger has played 7 games this season for the BlackHawks but he had 76 points in 44 games last season in the OHL. We'll see.

Jesse Joensuu has been cleared to play and will be added to the team's active roster -- in order to trade him?

12:29 pm: Just said on SN trade show, BlackHawks have no intention of trading Saad.

1:51 pm: David Ullstrom is better. He's going to Bridgeport. Ain't you excited?

3:30 pm: And we're all done here. Told you it was gonna be quiet. One of my Twitter followers said I was "really going out on a limb." Yeah. Well, we knew nothing was happening.

Newsday's Art Staple Tweeted out this statement from Garth Snow: "We had lots of contact with clubs, but I'm conident in the group we have. I didn't want to disrupt the chemistry we've built."

And they didn't. There are only a few games left. Let's sit back and watch what happens to everyone else -- like Columbus.
