BREAKING NEWS! Brown fired

The Vancouver Canucks have fired Power-play coach Newell Brown and have entered into negotiations with Canucks legend, Markus Naslund to replace Brown.

When contacted at his home in Ornskoldsvik, Sweden, Naslund confirmed that he had been approached about the position.

“Gillis knows how I feel about that French bastard. If he expects me to leave my cushy job here with MODO he better make it worth my while.”

Naslund was the all-time leading scorer in Canucks history before being passed by Henrik Sedin earlier this season.

When asked about the possible move, Henrik said, “ That’s freaking awesome. Finally someone on this coaching staff who knows how to score and likes Abba in the locker room.”

However, Alex Burrows was not so enthusiastic about the possible move.

“When Nazzy was here, all he did was talk Swedish and take the Twins out to Ikea for lunch. Since he left we have been a much closer team because the Twins are around more and not at Ikea pigging out on meatballs,” Burrows said.

While Gillis wouldn’t confirm that the team had contacted Naslund to replace Brown, he did say that Naslund is someone that he has a ton of respect for and that he would make an excellent coach.

Canucks/Sharks

Vancouver is in San Jose tonight to try and shake off that horrible start they had the other night in Edmonton. Vancouver comes into this one having lost only once in their past seven. San Jose has been fairly hot right now as trade winds swirl around the team. The Sharks have won four in a row and have only given up two goals in their past three.

Keys to the game

- Win faceoffs. The Sharks are one of the best and the Canucks are one of the worst. Vancouver will need a good effort in the circle if they want to win tonight.

- Solid goaltending. Schneider is rumoured to be getting the start and it seems as he goes, the Canucks go.

- Get the power-play going. The power-play showed signs of life last game with Garrison blasting away from the point. Now if only someone could get to the front of the net and battle.

Given how well both teams are playing, I expect tis one to be close. Give me San Jose in this one with one of the rookies turning the puck over.

Prediction- 3-2 Sharks

Make “Haunt You” the goal song

Honestly, this is the song that the Canucks have been looking for to jack up the Vancouver crowd and drive the opposition nuts. And what could be better than having two good Vancouver girls singing after every Canucks goal? Nothing! And it is easy for the crowd to sing along.

Tweet up DJ Dave at @CanucksDJDave and @VanCanucks and make it happen Canucks fans. We wanna hear it!

Here’s a preview, with a couple of other ideas for the intro and goal song…

Thoughts?

That's a wrap
