Battle of the stats

Goals for/against per game

Florida - 2.37 / 3.49
New Jersey - 2.47 / 2.59

Power play/Penalty Kill percentage

Florida - 18.9% / 74.1%
New Jersey - 17.5% / 80.6%

Here are the projected lines (subject to change) for the Panthers:

Lines courtesy of DailyFaceoff.com.

Tomas Fleischmann - Marcel Goc - Tomas Kopecky
Peter Mueller - Drew Shore - Quinton Howden
Jonathan Hubderdeau - Shawn Matthias - Mike Santorelli
Scottie Upshall - Jarred Smithson - Greg Rallo

Brian Campbell - Tyson Strachan
Filip Kuba - Dmitry Kulikov
Erik Gudbranson - T.J. Brennan

Here are the projected lines (subject to change) for the Devils:

Adem Henrique - Andrei Loktionov - Matt D'Agostini
Patrik Elias - Travis Zajac - David Clarkson
Ryan Carter - Stephen Gionta - Steve Bernier
Alexei Ponikarovsky - Tim Sestito - Tom Kostopoulos

Bryce Salvador - Marek Zidlicky
Andy Greene - Mark Fayne
Henrik Tallinder - Adam Larsson

Notes: Martin Brodeur will start despite the back-to-back situation...Dainius Zubrus is getting closer but still will not play...Harri Pesonen and Krys Barch will sit as healthy scratches up front...Anton Volchenkov and Peter Harrold both struggled mightily vs. Tampa Bay...My guess is Adam Larsson and Henrik Tallinder play in their place.

Panthers to watch out for:

Shawn Matthias - The 25-year-old centerman is having a nice season thus far. Matthias has three goals in his last two games and 12 goals on the year.

Quinton Howden - Howden, a 2010 1st round pick, is still looking for his 1st career point. Tonight will mark his 7th career game and he'll have a good chance to get it as everyone always records their first career point / goal against New Jersey.

Jacob Markstrom - Despite playing for a bad team and having a poor record of 4-7-1, Markstrom has still kept a ton of pucks out as evident by his .918 save percentage. Neither Jose Theodore nor Scott Clemmensen have over a .895 save percentage.

Devils to watch out for:

Andrei Loktionov - Loktionov has been heating up of late as he has scored in three of the last four games.

David Clarkson - He has just two goals and four points in his last 20 games but did score the game-winning-goal the only time these two teams met this season.

Martin Brodeur - The 40-year-old future Hall of Famer will start on back-to-back nights for the 2nd time in the last two seasons. How will he hold up?
