Let's get down to it, shall we?

First, the Big Enchilada, Iginla.

The Hawks are resting on their offer of a roster player and a prospect or a top prospect and a decent prospect or a pick—but not a first rounder.

The Hawks believe Jay Feaster has no better offers than what they've put on the table, and based on what I know of their offer, and those of other teams, I would agree. Feaster is said to want a roster player, a top prospect and a pick. But Iginla is 35 years old and clearly, while still a good player, no longer an elite one. One other tidbit, Feaster is said to have asked for Malcom Subban from the Bruins—and the B's said no dice.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR:

Apparently, if this deal gets done, it will be for a pick as opposed to the second, lesser prospect. The Hawks, having dealt their 2nd and 3rd round 2013 picks to the Jets for Johnny Oduya at this time last year, would send a player to the Eastern Conference for said pick. If you hear such a deal announced in the next 24 hours—it is a good sign on Iginla coming to Chicago.

The Islanders.

I am told this deal is dead. Could it be because the Hawks are closer on Iginla than they are letting on? Maybe. The main asset I heard the Hawks offered to the Isle was also offered to Calgary.

Rumbling In Da Big D

A rumor out of Canada this morning has the Hawks in conversation with the Stars. Players unknown.

Tampa.

The same Canada source has the Hawks talking to the Bolts about defensive forward Tom Pyatt. Excited yet?

I will also add—and this is not editorializing—I have heard it from a source—the recent activities have added to a long-standing perception around the league that GM Stan Bowman lacks the organizational latitude to make decisions and act appropriately. The source's words: "is he actually steering the ship?"

More as I have it,

JJ
