Patrick kaleta went to Shanny's Phone Booth and was handed a five game suspension for his hit from behind on Brad Richards.
This afternoon, Joffrey Lupul will have a phone hearing with the NHL Czar of Discipline to answer for why he targeted the head of Tampa bay D-man Victor Hedman in last night's 4-2 Leafs win in Toronto.
Lupul was assessed a two-minute minor for illegal check to the head following a collision with Tampa Bay defenseman Victor Hedman in the neutral zone.
Lupul can use the phone in his Buffalo hotel room to chat with Shanahan.
Lupul is now subject to the maximum 5 game suspension.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Ron Rolston will dress battleship USS John Scott for tonight's game vs. Toronto.
Carlyle will be dressing his tough guys McLaren, Orr, and Fraser.
Rolston hasn't dressed Scott in the past week,
The Sabres will match Toronto's truculence by playing their own brand of heavy hockey. Foligno, Ott, Kaleta, Scott, and Weber can chuck the knucks, and will.
Nazem Kadri leads the Leafs in scoring with 30 points on 11 goals and 19 assists.
His head coach, Randy Carlyle, said recently that his plan is to put Kadri's line against the opposition's top trio. Last night, Kadri notched three assists against Stamkos, St. Louis and Conacher. The Leafs won 4-2.
Tonight, Kadri, Lupul if he's not suspended for his head hit on Hedman) and Kulemin will go head to head against the Ott-Hodgson-Pominville trio in Buffalo.
"We're going to test Kadri against the best players," he said. "He wants that, he cherishes it and tonight it worked for him."
What a difference a new head coach can make for a young kid like Kadri, who was buried on the Marlies roster for years when Ron Wilson was the Leafs boss. Wilson would complain about Kadri's defence, and lack thereof, however, Carlyle points out that the kid plays strong defense.
"The biggest emergence of Nazem Kadri is where and when in the game to try to use the skill moves," Carlyle said. "He was always good defensively. ... What happens in your transition from junior to pro hockey, it's the number of times that you expose yourself to the high-risk, high reward and where you do and when you do it on the ice.
"That's really been the learning curve for Nazie. We always knew that he had skill."
Buffalo Chamber of Commerce President, Joffrey Lupul, may not be in the lineup on Thursday night when Toronto travels to Buffalo for a divisional alley fight.
Lupul returned the the Leafs lineup on Saturday night vs. Winnipeg after missing the majority of this season due to a broken forearm that he suffered when he was hit by a teammate's shot while he was screening an enemy goalie.
Lupul has three goals in his first three game back after his injury.
Methinks he'll be suspended by the NHL for this act of idiocy that he perpetrated on Bolts D-man Victor Hedman.
