Welcome to the Hotstove! As always, I'm your host, Travis Yost.

Interesting story coming out of Pittsburgh on Friday. Rob Rossi over at the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review has reported on an initial asking price for star forward Jarome Iginla of the Calgary Flames. As expected, it's pretty steep, and not too dissimilar to what was asked for Rick Nash just one year ago.

#TribHKY >> Iggy price: top 4 D prospect, roster player, and draft pick. For now, anyway. He has no movement clause. #pens #flames

It's worth noting that Iginla is an unrestricted free agent at of the end of the year, and carries with him a $7M price tag through the final months of his current contract.

The facts of his salary and potential asking price have to immediately remove some playoff teams from consideration as buyers at the trade deadline, but there's sure to be interest in such a skilled forward, one who has scored five-hundred and fifty-one regular season and playoff goals in his illustrious career.

One team that may have interest? The Pittsburgh Penguins. As The Sporting News noted, Pittsburgh's loaded with potential pieces for a deal:

The Tribune-Review's reported asking price, high as it may sound for a rental player on the decline, makes a lot of sense for the Penguins. Over the past few years, Pittsburgh has stockpiled high-end defense prospects: 2009 first-round pick Simon Despres is in the NHL. Joe Morrow, a first-round pick in 2011, is playing for Pittsburgh's AHL affiliate, as is Brian Dumoulin, acquired as part of the Jordan Staal trade. Scott Harrington, Derrick Pouliot and Olli Maata are all top players in the CHL. Penguins GM Ray Shero could easily use some of that depth to fill holes elsewhere.

..

In short, one of the young defensemen, Kennedy or Jeffrey, and a third-round pick would be reasonable enough. If Feaster expect some combination of Despres/Morrow, a better NHL player and a higher pick, it's harder to see the deal as worth it for the Penguins.

The Q: Should Pittsburgh make an offer for Jarome Iginla? If not Pittsburgh, what team is the most logical landing spot for the thirty-five year-old winger? Make sure to offer a price in the comments section.
