Isles vs. Pens: A Test of Character FAIL! 6-1 Pens

9:36 pm: Two teams played yesterday. One team didn't get home until well after midnight. Only one team came to play today. Isles fail this test dismally. As Butch and Howie said, all there is left to this game is t forget about it.

Too bad the fans can't.

9:09 pm: Isles turnover leads to a Dupis goal. 6 - 1 Pens and Crosby has five assist points and the game still has 12:50 to go. This is why he's Sid.

8:56 pm: Oddly, Doug Weight was pretty easy on his team during intermission and Jack has sent Poulin out to start the third. Now remember, as you heard, Kevin hasn't played a game in two weeks.

8:39 pm: Paul Martin in the box, Isles on the power play, but not for long as the period ends. Power play will continue for 1:25 of the third.

8:26 pm: Sidney Crosby let's Matt Moulson chase him up ice, Moulson makes a sharp turn, Sid passes the puck and Kunitz skates into the slot and scores a hat trick to make it 4 - 1. And somehow, it was raining monkeys.

As soon as the ice was cleared, Neal made it 5 - 1. There is no defense on the Isles tonight. None. Two goals in 16 seconds.

8:15 pm: The Isles get a lucky break as Brad Boyes converts on a pass from Casey Cizikas for his sixth goal of the season. 3 - 1 now and Nabokov is still in net for the Isles.

7:42 pm: Well, it seems the Isles are having problems with the Penguins power play. It's now 3 - 0 and we're only in te first period.

Certainly all good teams score with a TWO man advantage, but this is getting a little rediculous. Kunitz has scored twice already on the power play. How many more would they like to give him?

Yes, I agree with Howie. It's a three goal game, put Kevin Poulin in net for the second.

Jack Capuano left for the locker room in a huff immediately after the first. He was not happy with this team's performance. Now, a three goal lead is not insurmountable, so if they can find a way to 'grind them down,' the Isles can come back. A three goal lead is dangerous.

Only a few more hours until game time as the NY Islanders visit the Penguins and the Gremlin, Michael Grabner will be playing his 200th NHL Game.

Many have been discussing Grabs ice time and his success rate, but Jack Capuano feels he is doling out ice time appropriately. His grind line is clicking and doing damage, so they will see the ice perhaps more than Grabner. But maybe Grabner needs less ice time to be more effective. This is a two way street.

Jack will be starting Nabby again today after saying that he will get three days off after this so he's not worried about him. I say Nabokov, like so many other goalies, plays better when he plays often. He's playing often enough to be tied for second in NHL wins. Really? Has that changed?

Andy MacDonald received several stitches on that high sticking penalty yesterday, but he'll still play tonight. Because he's AMac, that's why.

Two days ago, it was said there were only 75 tickets left for tonight's game. The average price was $345 a ticket. And we complain about ticket prices. Holy moly!!! Hockey has become a rich man's entertainment!

Packed house, Isles on a roll, and the Pens looking to burst their bubble. Looks to be a good night!
