Update: Getzlaf signs an extension in Anaheim

Today is the day I get to announce the 2013 NHL Trade Rumor Chart is Live!.

On Montreal....

Despite the standard "playing it down" the Habs are buyers and buyers in a big way. Not surprisingly the #1 priority is getting a defenseman who can help on the powerplay to supplement/act as insurance again. One of the more interesting names I keep hearing is that of former Hab Mark Streit(e3)...I have also heard mention of Ryan Whitney(e2)..

On Toronto...

Since it has been years since I could lead with the Habs and Leafs both as buyers, I figured I should jump at the opportunity! I have heard rumblings surrounding the Leafs and several players. The most interesting of course being Ryan Getzlaf. With the Ducks playing so well it is hard to imagine they will make a move at all, but when I talk to people in the know they tell me that Cory Perry is the player more likely to remain in Anaheim next season and that Getzlaf is very much "on the fence." I would not expect a trade of Getzlaf...as you will see on the The 2013 NHL Trade Rumor Chart I list Getz as 75% staying in Anaheim. However, if there is a team who wants him long term and may be willing to tempt Anaheim it is Toronto...

Other players I am tracking on The Rumor Chart with Toronto are Brad Boyes(e2) and Vaclav Prospal(e2). I would't expect Toronto to make any major moves with the team playing this well...and I don't buy into the Kessel rumors at all. I see them as nothing more than leaks attempting to get a better deal down the line for Kessel in Toronto.

On Detroit...

One of the more interesting aspects of the re-alignment is how it opens up new trading partners to Ken Holland. For years now a team in the West wouldn't be caught dead "helping out" the dreaded Red Wings....but remember the Wings are an Eastern Team moving forward and for this reason alone the possibility of Iginla in Detroit is VERY real. Detroit is all over the 2013 NHL Trade Rumor Chart this year. According to my sources they have expressed or are expected to have conversations regarding Iginla, Ray Whitney, Bobby Ryan, Byfuglien, Jagr, Visnovsky, Keith Yandle, and Stephen Weiss....Oh about that...

On Stephen Weiss...

Despite the player being done for the season I continue to hear it is possible his rights could somehow be traded given that those close to the situation feel Weiss s not returning to Florida and will test the UFA market. The Islanders are among the teams who may pick up Weiss..

more to come...

How The Trade Rumor Chart Works:
To see the most current team speculation on all the possible trade-able players and some comments updated regularly, go to The Rumor Chart. Players are added and adjusted throughout the days as to what percentages I feel are their most likely destinations based on the hundreds of phone calls, emails, texts, IMs and telegrams I receive.

It is a great deal of fun and is an exclusive "THANK YOU" to our Season Ticket Holders as part of their $20 per year contribution that helps support the site. Season Ticket Holders also get no ads throughout the site and other features as well.

The Chart contains players I have heard mentioned in rumors so far and I will continue to add players, adjusting their ratings several times a day as I hear them in the Rumor Mill. It is an easier way to keep up with rumors from all over the NHL and we hope you enjoy it.
