Yesterday the Penguins signed Tom Kostopoulos to a one year, two-way deal, worth $600,000.
Today, having to pass through waivers, Kostopoulos has been claimed by Uncle Lou and the Devils.

Here is a little snippet on him off of hockeyfights.com:
This season the Mississauga, Ontario native has been playing for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on a professional tryout contract. Kostopoulos has totaled seven points (3G-4A) and 43 penalty minutes in 17 games with WBS. He has four points (3G-1A) over his previous four games. Last Friday, Kostopoulos became the first player in WBS history to score 100 regular-season goals.

Kostopoulos has played in 615 career NHL regular-season games with Pittsburgh, Los Angeles, Montreal, Carolina and Calgary, amassing 60 goals, 96 assists and 156 points. Last season he appeared in 81 games with the Flames, registering 12 points (4G-8A) and 57 penalty minutes. Kostopoulos has added five points (3G-2A) in 16 career NHL playoff games

Many have asked me, Why?? The shirt answer is, I have no idea!
However, after taking a step back here are some thoughts.
Did Cam Janssens do much to help his cause yesterday versus the Penguins? Not sure. But having Barch and Cam and adding another tough guy in Kostopoulos seems like a crowded house. Cam may be on his way down again.

Kostopoulos did score 100 goals in the WBS so there is a hint of scoring touch. In todays game, you cannot afford to have an unskilled tough guy. They need to be able to contribute in another fashion.

Is this a precursor to a trade? Im done playing that game, only Uncle Lou knows.
Something has to give.

A little birdie told me that Uncle Lou has spoken to Dallas in regards to Brendan Morrow. I put little faith in rumors but it could be interesting. Last time Uncle Lou spoke with Dallas it brought us Nieuwendyke and Langenbrunner. Shortly thereafter a Cup was raised!

Truly yours,
