@kwsnow reports Ron Rolston will play Brennan tonight. Pardy will sit.

Brian Flynn will play in place of Big John Scott.

Thomas Vanek will make his triumphant return to the Sabres lineup, and not a moment too soon.

Ryan Miller will start his 14th straight game for Buffalo.

Updated 11:45 am:

Ville Leino and Jordan Leopold are on the ice with their teammates in Raleigh. Might this be a positive sign that they are close to returning to the starting lineup? Leino said last week that he was hopeful that his injured-rehabbed hip would allow him to skate in games beginning Sunday in Philly. Coach Rolston and the trainers hold the answers to all questions pertaining to Leino and his playing status.

The Sabres are working on their horrendous PP at this morning’s skate.

The Sabres PP units:

26-63-9-29-3; 21-19-42-57-10.

Looks like Brennan may earn playing time tonight to jump start the anemic PP.

My guess is Pardy would sit if Brennan plays.

Rolston will brief the media after prax…

Word from Chip Alexander of the Raleigh news and Observer at the Carolina game day skate:

• Cam Ward will miss the next 6-8weeks with an MCL sprain that he suffered on Sunday when in a chain reaction collision with Florida Panthers forward Jack Skille and Canes D Justin Faulk.
• Justin Peters ill get the start in goal tonight against Buffalo. Dan Ellis will be his back- up.
• Forward Chad Larose listed as “concussion” on Canes IR report.
• Canes PP has been as anemic as Buffalo’s lately. Canes PP is 1 for its last 25 attempts over the past eight games.

Coach Rolston is expecting Thomas Vanek to return to the lineup tonight. HDTV will take the place of the suspended Patrick Kaleta.

Vanek missed the New Jersey and NY Rangers games with his upper body ailment. Vanek leads all Sabres with 29 points (12+17) in 28 career games against the Hurricanes. Vanek and Pominville each had five points (3+2) in four games against Carolina last season and both have three points in two meetings between the teams this season.

The Sabres have lost 64 man games to injury this season.

Here’s the updated Sabres injury list:

Ville Leino (lower body, Jan. 20; injured reserve) – 23 games
Jordan Leopold (upper body, Feb. 21; injured reserve) – 6 games
Alexander Sulzer (lower body, Feb. 26; injured reserve) – 4 games
Thomas Vanek (upper body, March 2) – 2 games

The Sabres are looking earn points in four consecutive road games for the first time since they got points in five straight from March 10-27, 2012, when they went 4-0-1 in five road games.
Also worth noting is that the Sabres are attempting to earn points in five straight games for the first time since going 7-0-2 overall during that same stretch from March 10-27, 2012.

The Sabres will skate at 11:30am
