Avs play to Columbus' level

For a matinee Sunday game, the Avs decided to play on Monday.

That is how it looked as the heavy-legged Avs slogged their way through a game against the NHL-worst Columbus Blue Jackets.

P.A. Parenteau scored on a Mighty Ducks knuckle puck goal but the Blue Jackets countered with 5-on-3 goal to tie the game and send it in to overtime.

On what coach Joe Sacco said was a "questionable" call, Duchene was called for hooking while the Avs were already on the penalty kill. With the extra space, the Blue Jackets, with help of Ryan O'Reilly's stick, scored to tie the game 1-1 driving the game into overtime.

On the whole the game was a snoozer, the polar opposite to the Blackhawks-Wings game this afternoon. Neither team seemed content to hit, shoot or skate throughout the entire game.

Coming off the thrilling come-from-behind win against the Calgary Flames and the addition of O'Reilly to the lineup, one would hope the Avs would come out with a little more fire or perhaps any.

Instead, they continued to have the motivation of an anorexic hippopotamus. Even if the refs insert themselves in the game, the Avs need to take care of their own business.

Up next for the Avs are games against the Wings, two against the Hawks and one against the San Jose Sharks. Not an easy road for a team trying to make it into the playoffs.

Three Stars

1. Artem Anisimov- scored the game-winning goal
2. Semyon Varlamov- Kept the game close with 32 saves
3. Vinny Prospal- scored the game-tying goal

Facepalm of the Game

P.A. Parenteau's hook that led to the powerplay in overtime was lazy and inexcusable.

Bang Bang play of the Game

Parenteau's goal was one of the freakier and amazing goals of the season. Like a bloop single in baseball
