Canucks/ Red Wings

Vancouver is in Detroit today and looking end their road trip on a high by picking-up 7-of-8 points on it. Vancouver comes into this one after a Luongo out-dueled Rinne for the 1-0 win. Detroit also comes into this one after shutting out the Preds 4-0 last night.

I look for the Wings to be a little tired after playing last night, but even without rest they are still a dangerous team. Datsyuk, Zetterberg and the rest of the gang have been around long enough, they no what it takes to play these back-to-backs. While their game has taken a bit of a step back this season without number 5, they still move the puck well.

As boring or just plain bad in some cases as the Canucks have played as of late, there is always a mutual respect that these two teams have the brings the best of of Vancouver. I look for that respect to make this an exciting game.

I also look for Ryan Kesler to be a star for Vancouver in front of his friends and family. Kesler has taken a bit of time to get used to playing again, but now in his sixth game I think we will start to see a bit of the Kes of old. Kesler always steals the show in Detroit, so I look for a big game out of him.

Prediction- 5-3 Vancouver, Kesler with 3 points

Respect Your Rival
Darren Helm

He’s out with an injury right now, but Helm is my favourite Red Wing. The guy has no quit in his game and is always around the puck and always finishes his checks. In my opinion he is one of the NHL best penalty killers and his loss is a major reason why the Wings have underachieved. While he will miss todays game, the Red Wings sure could use him.

NHL Got it Wrong

On Friday night, Andrew Shaw of the ever so saint-like Blackhawks delivered what in many people minds is the most dangerous type of hit in hockey.

And how does the NHL respond? By suspending Clowe indefinitely for some hokey rule that say you have to stand by and do nothing while your teammates face gets mashed into the boards.

Well if Clowe is looking at 10 games, then Shaw should have been looking at 20. I like Shaw and would take him on my team, but repeat offenders, should not be getting off free after pulling this kind of crap. Shanny screwed this one up and my guess is we see something like this when the Clowe does get his hands on Shaw.

That's a wrap

Ian
