*Sorry for the last minute blog...

Tonight the Calgary Flames will head to Dallas to take on the Stars in their 2nd meeting this season. The 1st game Calgary was on fire and ended a two game losing streak. Tonight Dallas is coming off a good road trip winning two of three, and the Flames just suffered a disappointing loss Friday night.

Good news for Calgary is they will get another opportunity to put up big points against Dallas’ backup, Bachman. The Starts starting goalie Kari Lehtonen left Friday night`s game in Vancouver during the 1st period and has been put on injury reserve. The Flames had huge success last time they faced Bachman, especially their 2nd line of Hudler, Tanguay and Cervenka. After his hattrick, Dallas will likely be all over Cammalleri and consequently it will be up to linemates Stajan and Stempniak to make something happen offensively.

Stars forward Jamie Benn has been hot and is on a 6 point streak, but last time they faced off it was Morrow who found the back of the Flames net twice. Keeping those two at bay will be the primary defensive focus. The other scorer’s for Dallas in their last meeting were Eriksson and Nystrom, both left wingers, so watching that side of the ice will be important. They will want to be careful when breaking out on the left side to keep turnovers low.

Centre Blair Jones has cleared waivers but travelled with the team to Dallas so he could be on the 4th line tonight. Hartley wants more from Blair who has no goals and just 1 assist in 11 games but he is the best at faceoffs at 59.4%. If he plays he may center Horak and Jackman but Begin is also in the mix.

After sending Irving back down to the Heat, the Flames will feature Joey Macdonald and Danny Taylor as backup. Irving had a respectable run but Calgary is hoping Macdonald’s experience will make him sharper. After the poor start on Friday, getting off on a good start is crucial.

The Flames were unable to carry the momentum from their win against the Stars at home against St. Louis, but hopefully they can take it with them to Dallas. Avoiding another loss is imperative for their standing in the Northwestern division so hopefully they will find as much success as they did last time they played the Stars.
