Vancouver looks to keep things rolling tonight as they host the surprising Dallas Stars. The Stars currently occupy the eighth seed in the West, which comes as a bit of a surprise to most people.

Before losing a run-and-gun style of game in Calgary 7-4, the Stars had been on a roll and playing their best hockey of the season. Kari Lehtonen is expected to get the start tonight and for the Stars to have a chance he will need to be at his best. The big Fin is having one of the quietest MVP-like season you will ever see out of a player, posting a 7-2-1 record, a 2.17 GAA and a .933 SV%.

And after being peppered for seven goals you can bet that the Stars spent a lot of time on their day off working on tightening up in their own end. Dallas isn’t really known to be that sloppy, so you can bet on a much better effort defensively from them tonight.

For Vancouver, they will be running Cory Schneider out there tonight. And with all the other happenings around the team, such as many being done and Kesler possibly coming back, the goalies kinda got lost in the shuffle. Still with the way both are playing right now, does the question of who starts really matter?

I look for Vancouver to be the much fresher team after having a few days off. For Dallas, this will be their third game in four nights, so I fully expect to see them try and set a grind-it-out style pace. They’re tired, and they just gave up seven, so my guess is we see the T-R-A-P out of them tonight. And after watching Vancouver this season, I fully thing they will be ok with that.

Prediction- 2-1 Vancouver in a boring game.

Respect Your Rival
Jaromir Jagr

Who is the greatest player of all-time that is suiting up in this game? Answer: Jaromir Jagr. Like Selanne, the man just doesn’t age. He is still dangerous every time he is on the ice and he makes players half his age look foolish. He’s been one of my favourites to watch over the years and I still imagine how things could have been a lot different in Vancouver if they selected J.J. instead of Nedved.
