Quick Hits...

With both Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf being the Parise and Suter of this coming summer's UFA Frenzy...Many are seriously questioning if the Ducks can possibly afford both or if in order to get both under contract they will have to move other salary (ex: Bobby Ryan)?

My sources say that despite the great start by Getzlaf if the Ducks can keep one of the pair it would be Corey Perry that they hook their wagons to. It is one of those classic debates and it reminds me of the summer the Senators had to decide between Chara and Redden. At the time I felt the Sens were making the right call by keeping Redden, but history would prove otherwise as Chara would continue to develop into the mega Superstar he has become.

Getzlaf on the open market would be incredibly intriguing indeed, and early reports are clear...

An NHL source puts it this way:

"Getz is the player the Maple Leafs have been waiting to become a UFA for a few years now. The Canadiens also would go in heavy."

Another source, this one in the midwest says, "I know the Red Wings and Islanders each have a contingency plan in place to go after Ryan if the Ducks don't lock him up."

If the Ducks were to move Bobby Ryan you can be absolutely, 100% certain the Flyers would be their first call. The Flyers came remarkably close to acquiring Ryan (in fact for a few moments they believed they had a deal in place) at the last draft and have wanted to get Bobby in orange and black since he was a kid playing hockey across the river in South Jersey.

On O'Reilly...

Still hearing the Canadiens are the team waiting to see what the Avs decide to do here, but last night, later on, I began getting info the Blues (who do have a recent history dealing with Colorado) were putting feelers out there.(e2)

On the Island...

There are some definite clues out there that the Islanders may have grown frustrated trying to get a deal done with Edmonton and moved on to discussions with Minnesota. There could also be some other BIG news coming out of Long Island in the next week to ten days... (sorry to be vague...will have more ion that when able to...

No Panic in Flyersland...

Despite a very up and down start, and some key injuries, the Flyers do not appear to be in a trading frame of mind as of yet...(so that either means they are being patient or a trade will happen by the time I press "Submit" on this story...:)
