Random Isles Thoughts

Once again, the old Islanders are back in the building. The ones that play well, but not well enough to win. Well, we sort of knew it would happen, didn't we?

So here are some random, disjointed thoughts on last night.

Mixing up lines didn't seem to really work and some players looked a little lost at times.

Matt Moulson must have missed John Tavares' pass at least three times -- if not more.

Casey Cizikas is the new Isles Energizer Bunny.

Who is responsible for no longer supplying cinnanuts and seasoned potato chips in the Press Box break room? Who? I want to know!

The girl who sang the National Anthem last night was named Honey. Her last name was not 'boo boo.'

Watching Michael Grabner miss on his breakaways is like oogling a fabulous piece of chocolate cake and then finding out it's wax. Beautiful to look at but totally disappointing.

Matt Martin must have taken skating lessons. He was also back to being the team leader in hits last night with 5.

John Tavares is willing to put the team on his back and carry it alone - every.single.game.

Keith Aucoin did horribly in the face-off circle last night.

The Isles managed 34 shots on net and still didn't win the game. Fluery was pretty amazing yesterday. I'd still like to know how it's okay for a player to plop himself down in the crease along with the goalie. Just doesn't seem right.

The Isles are always looking to break records so they did, according to Eric Hornick, the Isles statistician who pulled this gem out of thin air while getting coffee (and now I see it many places) "New York hadn't been 0-for-7 on power plays in consecutive games since March 28-30, 2003." I don't know how the hell he does it.

Josh Bailey is the only player I've ever seen actually associate with others in the press box. But what is going to happen when he is back on the ice?

So Jack said he didn't know anything about Visnovsky's arrival unless he reads it in the press? Really Jack? You have a bridge you want to sell us too?

If the power play isn't clicking now, how will it be working with a player who hasn't played with the Isles before? There isn't much time before the Isles will be mathematically eliminated from playoff contention in this abbreviated season.

Maybe Jeff Marek was right. Damn him...

There are 100's of random thoughts about last night. I'm sure you've got plenty.
