Today I'd like to take a brief the controversy that is starting to brew and examine the value that both Roberto Luongo and Cory Schneider have right now.

Luongo
There are few goaltenders that are playing as well as Roberto Luongo right now. The man just appears to be in the zone and is likely the No. 1 reason as to why the Vancouver Canucks are currently in first place. And while it is early still, his 2-0-2 record, along with his sparkling 1.46 GAA and .944SV% would likely have him in the conversation for the Vezina.

And then there is also the fact that he "has" a track record of winning games, handling pressure and playing a lot; all things that we have yet to see for an extended period of time from Cory Schneider.

Schneider
Schneider is young, he's flashy, he's cheaper and he also has a history of eventually getting on track. When he started at Boston College, there were rough patches, but he figured it out and became one of the greatest college goalies of all-time. When he went to Manitoba he struggled for a month or so, but then as usual, he got on track and was one of the AHLs best. In the NHL as a backup, a few tough games, but once he was rolling there was no stopping him.

While career as a number one has been a tough few games, I'm am 100% certain he will figure it out; he always has.

Closing Thoughts
So the question everyone wants to know the answer to is, who do you keep? The answer is both for now. The reason I say that is because I'm not sure there is much of a market for either of them as of yet. Until Cory gets going there will be doubts and until Cory gets going you can't really move Luongo. Because if you do that and Cory struggles for a month, then Vancouver is in trouble. If Cory thinks the pressure is tough in Vancouver right now, just wait until he sees what the pressure is like when there is no one to back him up and the team is fighting for eighth place.

I say keep them both until Cory comes around, then auction off one of them to the highest bidder at the deadline.

Who would you trade?

What would the deal be?

That’s a wrap.

Ian
