While the Sabres (2-0) will be looking avoid their first loss of the season, Carolina (0-2) will be trying to earn its first win. Tonight begins a home and home set in Carolina and the teams will head to Buffalo after the game to prepare for tomorrow’s meeting at the First Niagara Center.

Tonight marks the first of three meetings this season.

Buffalo are coming of a 2-1 win in Toronto, a game in which Ryan Miller stole the show. The Hurricanes have had a rough start to the season, losing by scores of 5-1 and 4-1.

Jhonas Enroth will likely get a start in one of the next two games. He is 2-0-0 with a 0.49 GAA and a .986 SV% against the Hurricanes, his best numbers against any team.

A win tonight could have Buffalo atop the Eastern Conference, but it would have to get some help from a couple of other teams. At the other end, a loss for Carolina would have them dead last in the Conference.

Thomas Vanek has 26 points (11 G, 15 A) in as many games against Carolina.

Drew Stafford will play in his 400th NHL game tonight.

Tonight’s game is schedule for 7 p.m. and will be aired on MSG.
