New Jersey Devils Out Of The Mix For Scott Gomez |

Despite earlier reports suggesting the New Jersey Devils are interested in bringing back Scott Gomez, it doesn't look like that will happen.
The Devils are now believed to be out of the mix for Scott Gomez, according to Nick Kypreos of Sportsnet.
As I've said in both my articles and on twitter, I don't think bringing back Gomez would be a great idea. I think he may be able to help some teams, but New Jersey isn't one of them.

In the meantime, QMJHL reporter Mikaël Lalancette is reporting that Devils 2012 1st round pick Stefan Matteau will start the season with the Devils.
I don't mind the decision to give him a look if he's playing top-9 minutes, but if the Devils intend to use him on the 4th line it's best he just goes back to the Armada in the Q.

The Devils gave forward Jacob Josefson the day off to rest up and make sure he's 100% and ready to go for tomorrow's game against the Islanders. I think it was a smart move by the coaching staff to give him the day off. No need to push him and risk aggravating his minor injury, especially when he's been playing hockey all year and is in game shape. They need Josefson in the lineup, and pushing him to skate while nursing a minor injury a day before the season opener wouldn't make much sense.
