As I reported on CSNPhilly.com tonight, Claude Giroux was named 19th captain of the Flyers.

It was supposed to happen THursday at the open practice at Wells Fargo Center but the worst kept secret in current Flyers history was leaking profusely all day - we all thought it could happen toda since Chris Pronger was around and was supposedly going to talk.

Anyway, the club decided to announce it tonight.

This is a good move. Giroux is 2 years older than when Mike Richards got the "C" and I feel he is more level-headed to take it and run with it.
