Here are a few quick hit rumors before the MOU is ratified and all hell breaks loose.

First, there’s growing chatter on my grapevine that the Hawks could be ready to deal Nick Leddy—for the right offer.

From varying sources . . .

The Hawks might have some lingering bad mouth-taste from the way Neil Sheehy,
Leddy’s agent, handled negotiations between the Hawks and another client, Ryan Suter, over the summer.

Leddy is an RFA over the summer of 2013, and at least one more Hawk rumored to be available is an impending RFA and also due for a raise.

The coaching staff was not completely happy with Leddy’s uptake of instruction last season.

Another Hawk who could be heading elsewhere is Niklas Hjalmarsson.

But the Hawks are not actively looking to move either player and are officially “content” to go into the season with the roster they have.

“Unofficially” I’m told, there are players available who the Hawks will move for the right price—with an eye toward adding a center and/or an upgrade in net.

I have heard in the last 24 hours that the Hawks have been contacted by the Ottawa Senators, who are in search of blueline help—and that the hawks have interest in all three top goalies in the Ottawa organization—Craig Anderson, Ben Bishop and (especially) Robin Lehner.

Another rumor that is gaining steam is that Steve Montador might not be able to play this season due to lingering concussion symptoms.

All for now, but stay tuned.
