Bobby Butler and the Albany Devils took on the Binghamton Senators last night hoping to pick up their second win in two nights, however, they couldn't accomplish such a feat. Here are some notes on the Devils 3-2 loss to the Senators as well as some New Jersey Devils prospect updates.

- As expected, Jeff Frazee got the nod last night. He stopped a less than mediocre 14-of-17 in the loss. Frazee did come up with some big saves and all the goals he allowed were good, in fairness to him, but as I said, three goals against on 17 shots isn't going to cut it most nights. Last night was one of those nights.

- Albany playoff race update: six points out with two games in hand on the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.

- The Devils are back in action tonight against the Hershey Bears. The Bears are a borderline playoff team as of now so it would be huge if the Devils could pull off a win and bridge the gap between the two teams.

- Bobby Butler had two powerplay goals and five shots against the baby Senators Friday night. Butler now has 10 goals in his last 11 games and 14 points over that span. Every team can always use a goal scorer and the Devils are a little thin on the wing, so if and when this lockout ends Butler could very well find himself earning a top-9 spot in New Jersey.

- Eric Gelinas had an assist and was minus-1 in the loss. He's struggled a fair bit since returning from injury and doesn't seem quite right yet as he has just one goal and one assist in 11 games this year.

- Jacob Josefson had an assist and four shots last night. He now has points in at least two consecutive games for the fourth time this year.

- Mattias Tedenby and Stephen Gionta were even, Alex Urbom was minus-1, Adam Larsson was minus-2 and Harri Pesonen was minus-3. Those are the rest of your notables.

- In the OHL, Reid Boucher picked up a goal and an assist in a 3-2 Sarnia loss to Brampton. Boucher has 26 goals, 42 points and a plus-12 rating in 35 games on the year. Consistency and defense have always been the two issues for him, and he's improved in both aspects this year. He's turning into a real nice prospect for the Devils.

- Ben Thomson was minus-2 and had a fighting major in Kitchener's 4-1 loss to the Barrie Colts. Thomson has been pretty disappointing this year as he's on pace for about 25 points after putting up 42 last year. Thomson's physical game hasn't gone anywhere, though. At this point it looks like his NHL upside is to be a 4th liner who can score 6-10 goals.

- In the WHL, Reece Scarlett had a goal, an assist and a plus-3 rating in Swift Current's 6-4 win over Medicine Hat. Scarlett now has seven points in his last eight games.

- Centre Graham Black was held off the scoresheet for the Broncos. Black has hit a bit of a dry spell of late as he has just four points in his last nine contests.

- Damon Severson had an assist and was plus-3 in Kelowna's 5-3 win over Vancouver last night. He has been scorching hot of late as he has 14 points in his last eight games.

- In action across the CHL tonight: Ben Johnson, Ben Thomson, Graham Black and Reece Scarlett.
