Strome & Reinhart head to Russia

Two outta three ain't bad, right? Both Ryan Strome and Griffin Reinhart made Hockey Canada's National team for the World Junior Tournament in Ufa, Russia. It will be bronze medal winning Ryan's second trip to the WJC.

Considering how grueling this process of elimination is for the 36 young men who attended the selection camp, being selected is an honor. Not having to face the rabid Canadian media after being cut from the squad is a blessing.

There is much discussion about the schedule of the games involving Team Canada as opposed to the European teams. All preliminary round games for Canada and USA are scheduled at the crack of dark at 4:30 and 5 am. Now, we all know how much Canada looks at hockey as a religion, but how many will actually get up (or stay up) until 4:30 am to watch the future stars of a league that may not even exist (if this freakin' lock out doesn't end!) by the time they are mature?

So, of course, this means there's a poll to take.

While Canada's National Team has two NYI prospects, there are none on Team USA. (boooooo)

Sideboard: Did we mention that Michael Grabner tore an ab muscle? Not sure we did. But that's okay. Originally I thought we were close to actually getting Hockey in Uniondale in January, but it doesn't look so rosey now, does it? Also seemingly still on the mend is Travis Hamonic. The Sound Tigers can sure use him.

If you want a giggle, check out LightHouse Hockey's parody on the negotiation process http://www.lighthousehockey.com/2012/12/13/3760136/nhl-nhlpa-lockout-resolution-mediums It's actually very clever and gave me a chuckle.
