Saturday night the Devils kicked off their first of back-to-back games in style beating the Bridgeport Sound Tigers 3-1 on home ice. Here are some notes on the win as well as some New Jersey Devils prospect updates.

- The Devils won their second consecutive game for the first time all year yesterday evening in beating the Sound Tigers. Despite their poor play throughout the season, the Devils are just seven points out of the 8th playoff spot in the Eastern Conference and they have four games in hand over Portland, who currently sits 8th in the East. If the Devils can smarten up and string together a few good games here, starting with a win tonight, they can get right back in the mix of things.

- Keith Kinkaid stopped 22-of-23 last night in what was his third win over the season. Despite having only three wins in 11 starts, Kinkaid has a .916 save percentage. That's pretty impressive. I won't say it's a sure bet, but I expect Jeff Frazee to get the nod in goal tonight.

- Adam Larsson recorded another assist last night and now has seven points in his last nine games. He's really starting to adjust to playing at the AHL level and his statistics are beginning to reflect that. If he can keep producing at this rate, Albany will have a much easier time picking up wins.

- Joe Whitney had a goal and an assist last night and now has nine points in 13 games on the year. Call him a dark horse to earn one of those vacancies on the wing in New Jersey whenever the season starts.

- Bobby Butler got on the scoresheet with a goal last night against Bridgeport. He's starting to heat up a little bit as he has four points (two goals, two assists) and ten shots in his last four games.

- Mattias Tedenby also got on the scoresheet last night, but in his case he had an assist. Tedenby is picking it up a bit, too, as he has points in three of his last four games and 12 shots over that span.

- Stephen Gionta picked up an assist and had three shots in his season debut with Albany.

- The Devils had no prospects in action across the OHL last night.

- In the WHL, Reece Scarlett missed his second consecutive game with Swift Current. No word as to why. His Swift Current teammate Graham Black was minus-1 in a 2-1 loss to Victoria.

- Defenseman Damon Severson had his best game of the season in terms of production last night, recording three assists and posting a plus-2 rating in a 7-2 Kelowna win over Prince George. He now has 14 points and a plus-7 rating in 29 games this year.

- The following Devils prospects are in action across the CHL tonight: Ben Thomson, Ben Johnson, Reid Boucher and Stefan Matteau.
