I am heading to New York City today on a hunch that there will be major developments in the CBA negotiations. We will do a podcast from the negotiations starting around 6pm.

Don't be shocked if things get a little dicey over the next few days. It's all part of process now. Just remember that this whole thing continues to stick to the script and, when all is said and done, it is MUCH more likely that there will be a 2012-13 season than things falling apart to the degree where no deal is reached and the season gets canceled.

Neither side, but especially the players, can appear too publicly happy about any of the sacrifices they will have to make -- including on a few "must-have" issues -- in order to get a deal done.

Don Fehr wants to be part of talks again today, which is totally expected. That means Gary Bettman will be back to steering the NHL side of the table again. The player-owner led talks are now over. Scary to some? For sure. But to finish this process, that step has to happen.

Stay tuned for updates throughout the day!
