In an article posted late tonight, from the city where the Dark Knight Jeremy Jacobs rules the underworld, CBS Boston's sports anchor Steve Burton has said

Sources: Significant Progress Made Toward Ending NHL Lockout

In the article it states:

Sources tell WBZ-TV’s Steve Burton that an unannounced meeting was held Monday with a high-ranking official from each side, and significant progress was made toward salvaging the hockey season. It’s possible an announcement could come as soon as tomorrow or Wednesday.

Burton spoke with Bruins forward Milan Lucic at Joe Andruzzi’s foundation dinner, and he’s very excited about the possibility of getting back to work.

“You know, if your sources are correct obviously it’s great news,” says Lucic. “It’s great for the fans I think especially. I know they’ve been probably going through the most heartache of anyone.”

Lucic says he was optimistic that the season would be salvaged and that played a big role in his decision not to go to Europe. He admits that it will take him a little longer to get into shape than those who are playing right now.

“You’re not in game shape if you’re not playing games,” Lucic said smiling. “It might take me a little bit to get back into game shape but you know I’m confident in myself that I’m going to be able to get back and I know guys in Europe that I’ve talked to, that they would like nothing more than to come back here and play in the league that they want to play in most and that’s the NHL.”

UPDATE: Did a little digging on Steve Burton and he did break the Kessel testicular cancer story a few years back...which tells you he has connects high up at the team who trust him...and everything through Boston goes through Jacobs...Like Jacobs or not, I don't doubt Bettman would tell Jacobs news like this before he would tell almost any one...

My take: While it is entirely possible I think it is a bit early (knowing the parties involved) to make such claims..I am hearing some very positive things being said going into the meetings tomorrow...I am also hearing rumors the 182M could be cut to 91M and paid over four years as a compromise to solidify things...

We will see soon...

Again, I think it's early to put a 48 hour window on it, but I do get a sense the owners want to get a deal done quickly and we continue to inch closer to a deal. Stay tuned.
