HERE'S WHAT I DID

Last night, I watched the following players and games:

Philip Danault and Brandon Whitney played in a 4-2 loss to the Moncton Wildcats (Corey Crawford's QMJHL alma mater). Danault was scoreless and minus 1 in a game dominated by St. Louis prospect Dmitri Jaskin (2/2). Whitney stopped 34 of 38 shots in a withering Wildcat attack.

Dillon Fournier was +2 in a 4-1 Rouyn-Noranda win over Patrick Roy's Quebec Remparts. Fournier is a rangy, silky smooth defender whose mobility and decision-making bear all the earmarks of a future NHL player. He is also not shy about joining the rush. Fournier has been hyped for his skating, which is very good, but I was most impressed by his positioning and decisions. He also looks physically very much like an 18 year old—with room to grow. This is a prospect to watch.

Mark McNeill had two assists in Prince Albert's 5-3 win over Regina. McNeill played wing at even strength and the point on the power play.

Mac Carruth had 31 saves in a 5-2 Portland Winterhawk (Marian Hossa's WHL team) win over the Seattle Thunderbirds. Carruth is a classic butterfly goalie who appears pretty quick, and bounces up and down off his pads quite a bit. Like a lot of butterfly goalers, he plays down on his pads quite a bit.

I caught a little bit of Moose Jaw's 3-2 road loss to Kelowna (Troy Brouwer and Duncan Keith's respective W teams), where Hawk defense prospect Travis Brown was even. I didn't see enough of Brown to really offer much of a report beyond he has good size and started the game for the Warriors.

HERE'S WHAT I'LL (TRY TO) WATCH TONIGHT

Rouyn-Noranda (Fournier) at Shawinigan
Victoriaville (Danault, Whitney) at Prince Edward Island
Guelph at London (Alex Broadhurst)
Rockford at Charlotte (AHL prospects)
Moose Jaw (Brown) at Kamloops
