Igor Larionov, played with dogged determination and intestinal fortitude. Off the ice, Larionov conducts his business much the same way. He’s an NHL player. He’s a professional wine merchant and wine connoisseur. He knows a thing or two about patience and perseverance. The guy is intelligent. He’s plugged in. He has hundreds of contacts inside the NHL and in the international ice hockey community. Like E.F. Hutton, when Igor speaks, people listen.
He used to serve on the KHL's board of directors. He stepped down from that lofty position in order to get closer to the game. Today, he is a certified NHL player agent. He represents Nail Yakupov and Alex Galchenyuk.
Larionov is a power broker and an man of great influence in the NHL.
On Thursday. Larionov shared his personal feelings regarding the NHL lockout.
Igor’s wine glass is still half full. In fact, the two-time Olympic champion thinks that the NHL will begin play on the Monday after U.S. Thanksgiving. He told Russia’s “Sport Day After Day”:
“The season in the NHL, of course, take place. My hunch says he will start on November 26, will come into effect when the contract between the broadcaster and the league”
Black Friday is November 23.
Larionov also spoke about the recently canceled Winter Classic game between his Red Wings and the Maple Leafs. Igor says, not so fast with all of the doom and gloom.
“Heard that the decision was not final and it may still happen. In the next few days everything can be solved. In short, the season certainly will. Perhaps it will be shorter. NHL - a business that brings even not millions, but billions. And in the near future will only grow. Therefore shutout stretch and certainly cancel the season not beneficial to anyone. Neither player nor club bosses”.

Call it a co-inky-dink that Kassian is suspended in the same week that it was discovered that Sabres/Amerks centre, Cody Hodgson, has a broken bone in his right hand. The injury will keep CoHo off the ice for 10-14 days.
Hodgson and D Alex Sulzer were trade to Buffalo in exchange for Kassian and Marc Andre Gragnani at the 2012 NHL trade deadline.
In 30 games with the Rocehster Amerks last season, Kassian scored 15 goals and added 11 assists.
