Luongo, Yes or No?

Please people, you're killing me.

The Roberto Luongo to the Oilers rumors...They need to stop. Why?

1. Because the Oilers just gave some guy $3.5mil per season for the next two years to be their starter.

2. Because Luongo has a contract worse than Horcoff's.

3. Because the Oilers are still at least two seasons away from being a reasonable team, and Luongo is already 33.

4. Because he smells like the Canucks.

I received a very curious picture over Twitter tonight: Roberto Luongo wearing a vintage Oilers mask. For Halloween, or for April Fools Day? Hmmm. We know Luongo is/was an Oilers fan growing up (wasn't he?). We know Luongo has said before he'd play in Edmonton. You'd have to be a moronic player not to notice the core the Oilers are putting together...this team is going to be beating everyone in a few years. I mean, sure, Luongo wants to win a cup sooner or later, and that's never going to happen in Vancouver. Why wouldn't he want to be dealt to Edmonton?

I have such mixed feelings on this subject, you have no idea. Luongo is a true #1 goalie. We're still waiting to find out if Devan Dubnyk is at the same level. Obviously if the Oilers and Canucks do deal, Dubnyk is going the other way. It's going to be more than just Dubnyk, though, and that's the part that really scares me. If "more" means Shawn Horcoff or Eric Belanger, I approve. If "more" means Magnus Paajarvi or Teemu Hartikainen, I disapprove. Luongo is forcing a trade, which kills his value. He'll only accept a deal to a few teams, which lowers his value even more. He's 33 and he has a terrible contract. All things considered, the Canucks basically need to give him away to get a deal to happen. The thought of Dubnyk and a quality prospect for Luongo under these circumstances sounds bad to me.

So let's just make an assumption: Let's assume the deal is Roberto Luongo for Devan Dubnyk, Shawn Horcoff, and Magnus Paajarvi (there's no way the Oilers would deal Hartikainen). This contract has a little bit for everyone - The Canucks get a goalie in Dubnyk, a bad contract in Horcoff and a quality prospect in Paajarvi. How would Oilers fans feel about this deal happening?
