His name has come up in trade rumors over this summer but really, whose name hasn't? The amount of rumors that I see on this site and Twitter is absurd.
Anyway, Stafford has enjoyed two of his best seasons, production wise, over the past couple of years. He's hit 50 points, but could have had an even better season in 2010-2011 if it weren't for injury. Stafford had 52 points (31 G, 21 A) in 62 games that season, which was a career-best for him, as were the 31 goals. He also had 11 power play goals that year.
Stafford is signed through the next three seasons at $4M. I think it's time that we see him improve even more and show us why he was a 1st round selection in 2004.
I'll be honest...Stafford hasn't been one of my favorite players over the years, but he's been better and if he can continue to improve, or at least be consistent, I may like him a bit more. I'm hoping he continues to do well.
