I should have written this at 10 am, when I first heard rumblings. But I thought I had time. I was told 'soon.' I didn't realize that meant 'like TODAY.'

Nevermind!

So, Islanders Country, please welcome to the fold Griffin Reinhart who has signed his entry level contract today with the NY Islanders. The question will be how he will fair out of camp. Griffin is only 18 years-old and will not turn 19 until January of 2013. Will he be on the Islanders roster or sent back to the Edmonton Oil Kings?

Here is a piece from the press release:

Reinhart, a native of North Vancouver, BC, led Edmonton Oil Kings defensemen with 12 goals in 58 games during the 2011-12 season. The 18-year-old also added 24 assists for 36 points during his second season in the Western Hockey League.

He definitely has the size to compete in the NHL, but does he have the experience and skill set yet? Also, he'll be competing with older prospects who have been developing in BPort the past few years.

Griffin has his work cut out for him, but we did expect this. The fourth overall pick of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft was sure to sign an ELC the first year.... and he did.

Also... he really, really likes candy.
