Now that fans have had enough time to digest the disappointment of last season, I’d like to ask a question. Who was Vancouver’s MVP last year?

Henrik Sedin
Vancouver Captain, Henrik Sedin, guided the Canucks to their second straight Presidents Trophy. He led Vancouver in points and assists. Despite suffering some bumps and bruises along the way, as usual, Hank rarely missed a shift and played all 82 games, AGAIN.

Daniel Sedin
Despite missing 10 games due to injury, Daniel led Vancouver in goals once again. He was a force on the Vancouver power-play, raking up 10 goals and was noticeably missed while he was out. He finished second in game winning goals with 6, scoring two of them in OT.

Dan Hamhuis
In my opinion, Hamhuis is the most under rated D in the NHL. He is often overshadowed by Alex Edler’s point production, but when Hamhuis is on the ice, everything just seems calmer. He finished 10th in Norris Voting and was close career highs in +/- and points. His +29 was tops amongst all defenceman not named Chara.

Alex Burrows
The Rodney Dangerfield of the Vancouver Canucks just can never seem to get enough respect. Once again burrows had a strong season with 28 goals and provided outstanding two-way play. He led the team in game winning goals with 7 and shootout goals with 6. On the road, Burrows was money in the shootout, going an outstanding 4/4 in enemy territory.

Alex Edler
The man with the booming shot is starting to look like he is putting it all together. While there were times this year that he looked lost, for the most part, he looked pretty good. While there were times when he was an adventure in his own end, he did set career highs in goals, assists, and points.

Cory Schneider
The rock in net, that got Vancouver’s season turned around and going in the right direction. On November 20th, Schneider took the nets and only surrendered 4 goals over 5 games. He finished the season with 20 wins, .937SV%, 1.96GAA, and 3 SO. In the playoffs, despite a 1-2 record, he was even better (.960SV%, 1.31GAA).

Roberto Luongo
The foundation the winning has been built on in Vancouver was once again strong. Roberto Luongo had another strong year posting 31 wins, a .912SV%, a 2.41 GAA, and 5 SO. While this season was a bit sub par for Lu, the fact is, his numbers were still better than when he led Canada to Olympic Gold.

Ryan Kesler
Slowed by injury and the death of a family member, Ryan Kesler once again played a strong two-way game. He is one of the best shutdown centre in all of hockey, finishing 5th in Selke voting despite the off year. He had 22 goals, was strong in the faceoff circle, and led all Canucks forwards in average ice time.

for me it is a toss up between Burrows' clutch play and Hamhuis' reliable play. i'll take Dan because he is on the ice more.

That’s a wrap
