Pittsburgh, PA.
According to Josh Yoshe of the Tribune-Review, Doan will be sitting down with Mario Lemieux and Ray Shero of the Penguins in the near future. Monday? Tuesday? Not likely. Doan has flown bast home to Kamloops to be with his family.
There's no denying the Penguins and their high level of interest in Doan.
"Shane is going to visit a couple more teams. I'm pretty sure Pittsburgh will be one of them. He is interested in the Pens."
There's no secret that the Penguins are looking for a wing man for Sidney Crosby. The Pens skated hard at Zach Parise earlier this month, however, they lost their most wanted man to the Minnesota Wild.
Doan kicked off his tour on Friday in Manhattan, where he met with the Rangers, and toured their training facility. Doan met with Flyers in Philly on Saturday.
According to Yoshe:
“It made sense to visit those teams then,” Bross said. “There are a lot of teams that we’re considering.”
The Coyotes captain would like to return to Phoenix, but the unstable ownership there is forcing him to look elsewhere.
“Not sure what’s going to happen yet,” Bross said. “There are teams interested in Shane. He has some teams that he’s interested in. Pittsburgh is definitely one of them.”
The Penguins and Sabres have made offers to Doan.
Buffalo and Pittsburgh are a par five away from one another. Would make good business sense for Bross to book a sit down with Doan, so that he can meet eyeball to eyeball with the Pegulas, Darcy Regier, and Lindy Ruff.
I've emailed Bross three different times to ask if Buffalo is one of the other teams that Doan wants to meet with. No reply, yet. Bross has said that the Sabres remain a "possibility" for Doan.
This much we know: Doan remains interested in Buffalo. Does he want to meet with them? Stay tuned.
