The New Jersey Devils filled out their coaching staff earlier this week, and they continued to go about their business tonight as they announced that they have avoided arbitration with Mark Fayne by signing him to a two-year contract extension. Fayne will earn 2.6 million dollars over those two years (1.3M average).

In the event the two sides couldn't reach an agreement, the hearing was set to take place August 2nd in Toronto.

Fayne, 24, played in all 82 regular season games this past season and registered 17 points (4 goals, 13 assists). Fayne also tallied three points, all assists, while playing in all 24 of the Devils playoff games.

I'm still awaiting official word from the Devils, but it sounds like Fayne will get 1.2M in year one and 1.4M in year two (hat tip to Katie Strang for the numbers).

I'll have more on this signing tomorrow, but I think the Devils did very well to get Fayne locked up at that price.
