Anaheim Ducks Preseason Schedule + Hockey World Loses One of Their Own

Things are a bit quiet for the Anaheim Ducks these days. A stark contrast to a couple of weeks ago when we collectively held our breaths while waiting for the much anticipated Bobby Ryan trade.

Ryan has not been trade and truthfully I don't think he will be this summer. Teem Selanne signed and now the Ducks are in a holding pattern. I guess we could say all is quiet on the western front.

The Anaheim Ducks preseason schedule was released last month but I thought I would share it now. The lack of news has brought me to this point.

It's looking more and more like the start on the 2012-13 NHL season may be delayed. Just in case here is a complete list of Anaheim’s seven preseason games:

Tuesday, Sept. 25 PHOENIX Honda Center 7:05p.m.
Friday, Sept. 28 COLORADO Honda Center 7:05 p.m.
Saturday, Sept. 29 @ San Jose HP Pavilion 7:30p.m.
Monday, Oct. 1 LOS ANGELES Honda Center 7:05 p.m.
Wednesday, Oct. 3 @ Colorado Pepsi Center 6:00 p.m.
Friday, Oct. 5 SAN JOSE Honda Center 7:05 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 6 @ Los Angeles (Ontario) Citizens Business Bank Arena 7:00 p.m

UPDATE: Murray must have been reading today because the Duck shave signed Daniel Winnik to a two-year deal. Winnik appeared in 84 regular-season games between the Avalanche (63) and Sharks (21) last season, scoring eight goals and 15 assists.

The hockey world lost one of its own this morning in the tragic Colorado shootings. Jessica Ghawi, AKA Jessica Redfield an aspiring hockey writer and blogger, was one of the victims gunned down at a midnight showing of the new Batman movie.

Redfield survived the Eaton shootings in Toronto last month only to have her life taken while watching a movie.

I can't get this odd feeling out of my chest. This empty, almost sickening feeling won't go away. I noticed this feeling when I was in the Eaton Center in Toronto just seconds before someone opened fire in the food court. An odd feeling which led me to go outside and unknowingly out of harm's way. It's hard for me to wrap my mind around how a weird feeling saved me from being in the middle of a deadly shooting.

Her own haunting, almost prophetic words used to describe her near brush with death in Eaton. Tragic indeed.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected in this senseless act of selfishness and cowardliness.
