Meltzer's Musings: Final day of prospect camp |

Prospect development camp in Voorhees wraps up today with the second of two scrimmages. The scrimmage starts at 9 AM. I will be in attendance and tweet periodic updates (I was unable to attend yesterday).
Yesterday, the orange team beat the black team, 7-2, with a 48-24 shot differential. North Dakota forward Michael Parks, a Flyers 5th-round draftee in 2010, scored a pair of goals for the orange team. The winning side also got goals from the likes of undrafted camp invitee Christopher Clapperton , free agent signee Andrew Johnston and Phantoms forward Tye McGinn. Recent fourth-round pick Taylor Leier scored for the losing side, along with Phantoms forward Shane Harper.
There was an injury incurred early in the game. First-round draft pick Scott Laughton crushed third-round pick Shayne Gostisbehere, and knocked him out of the game with an upper-body injury. The defenseman's status for today's scrimmage is not yet known.
The scrimmage also had a fight, with invitee Medicine Hat Tigers forward Cole Grbavac (6-foot-2, 190 pounds) getting the better of invitee Seattle Thunderbirds forward Mitch Elliot (6-foot-5, 217 pounds) in a rather lengthy bout.
Today on Philadelphiaflyers.com, I profiled Phantoms rookie defenseman
Matt Konan. The Flyers signed the 20-year-old defenseman, who spent five seasons with Medicine Hat, as a free agent earlier this years.
I will post final thoughts on the camp in tomorrow's blog. Coming later this week, an update on restricted free agent defenseman Marc-Andre Bourdon and a little Flyers fantasy hockey tournament game in which the readers pick the winners of each match.
