It finally looks as though former Anaheim Ducks prized draft pick Justin Schultz may have decided where he wants to play and surprisingly it is not in Canada.

Twitter is buzzing with cryptic Schultz news, including a more specific tweet from Steve Zipay of Newsday.

If Schultz does land in the Big Apple, he will follow in the footsteps of other NHL greats that just couldn't resist the lure of Manhattan and Central Park. I'm talking about Scott Gomez, Bobby Holik and Wade Redden just to name a few.

I'm not saying his career will follow a similar path, but has there ever been more fuss over a player that has not even played one-second of an NHL game?

On the other hand, if Schultz is as described, this could be a phenomenal pick-up for the Rangers. After losing in the Eastern Conference Final to the New Jersey Devils, they wanted to make a big splash this summer. This could be the beginning of another run at the Stanley Cup for the storied franchise.

As for Ducks fans, they cannot think about what could have been. Schultz never played a game in Anaheim. That should make it easier to move on and look ahead. Easy for me to say. This is one of those things that falls into the category of "easier said than done."

UPDATE: Is Canada back in the mix? Andy Strickland thinks so.

He also believes there is a third team, which is expected to be the New York Rangers.

UPDATE: Schultz chose the Edmonton Oilers. The Oil now posses a plethora f young talent. Could this be an Edmonton dynasty 2.0 in the making? Only time will tell.
