Justin Schultz: It's Between the Canucks and the Oilers |

What did I say about the Oilers always being the bridesmaid?
A report came out this evening suggesting Justin Schultz has narrowed his choices down to two teams: The Edmonton Oilers and the Vancouver Canucks.
Detroit? Out. TO? No go. New York? Eat pork. Calgary? Sucks.
The selling features for Schultz with the Canucks and Oilers are obvious:
If he picks Vancouver, it's because he'd be shopping locally, and he'd be going to a team that can offer him an immediate chance to win a cup. Looking at the Canucks current D, there is a Top 4 opportunity for Schultz fairly immediately.
If he picks Edmonton, it's mostly because of Hall, Eberle, Nuge and Yakupov, and the opportunities that will come from becoming part of a young core of that quality. Schultz would be going to a team desperate for defenseman, and he'd have a chance to play Top 2 minutes almost within his first season.
To put what's at stake here into perspective, Schultz has more potential to make a difference in Edmonton than Yakupov does. While Yaks is a brilliant talent, the Oilers had stars up front before the draft. They have no prospects on D who can bring what Schultz would. He's a better prospect than Ryan Murray or Oscar Klefbom.
Cross your fingers, boys and girls. We're not going to know the answer to this question until Sunday.
