What a finish to the Phoenix/Los Angeles series, a see-saw battle that went deep into overtime with great plays and a controversial ending. What else could you ask for? Well… maybe for the Coyotes to take their loss a little better. The Coyotes were beaten soundly in this series. They fought hard and I can understand their disappointment, but the following things are true…
- The team has an owner… the owner happens to be the NHL.
- The officials were not “playing for the Kings.” And ummm…
- The better team won.
I know that this group of Coyotes got used to the breaks going their way. It was the case in their first round series win over Chicago and it was the case in their second round win over Nashville. These breaks and bounces were generated by their hard work, discipline and effort. They were the better team… but that is not the case in this series. The Phoenix Coyotes were outplayed in this series by a more talented team with a better game plan and a better execution of that game plan.
To say otherwise takes the credit away from where it belongs and disrespects the winner of this series. The team would be wise to follow the lead of their coach. Dave Tippett’s post-game quote “L.A. beat us. That’s what should be remembered, not the refereeing.”

Ron’s Diabetic Assist Dog Update
As 11am this morning, pledges stand at
$6,095. We are 76% to goal… Pred Nation has been awesome in this… please keep spreading the word.
We’re going to finish this fundraising drive off with a flourish with a concert at The Tin Roof on Music Row. The awesome guys in Six Wire and Small Time Rock Stars have offered to play to help raise some additional funds for this effort. The lovely and talented Danielle Lauderdale, as well as the AMAZING Teea Goans have also agreed to jump on and perform as well, and possibly a couple more added. The event is Wednesday, May 30th at 6pm. Please come out and join us to have some fun and raise the last bit of cash.
There is no cover, but a suggested $5 donation to go toward the alert dog. There will also be a few signed Preds jerseys on hand to be auctioned off that night! Come hang out, have a good time, and listen to some great music by great people

Random Notes
- Pred Prospect Austin Watson continues to light it up in the Memorial Cup, scoring another last night in London’s 4-1 win to complete their round robin. Watson was named first star of the game.
- The Predators are having an open house tonight starting at 5pm at Bridgestone Arena.
- Los Angeles has a week layoff until the finals begin next Wednesday night. They will go almost two weeks between home games.
- Really looking forward to Game Five of Rangers/Devils tonight. One half of the Coast-to-Coast showdown is in place...
