2:09 pm: That's what I love about the Internet, there is always someone willing to be your non-paid proofreader -- and who will rip you a new butthole while doing it.

Indeed, team Switzerland has only played two games and therefore Nino has not sat for game. They are currently playing Finland and the score is tied at 1 - 1 scored by 10. AMBUHL, Andres early in the second period unassisted.

Since we have some time, maybe we can throw a few good vibes towards Nino so that he ends up on the scoresheet today. Can we?

Happy Birthday to Matt Martin who turns all of 23 today. Matt Moulson has one wish for him -- to grow his hair back.

Doug Weight will be co-hosting NHL Live today on the NHL Network between 5 and 7 pm today. I'm not happy with the new format because now it is only ON the NHL network and I don't like the 5 pm time slot. I REALLY miss the noon - 2 pm slot with Don LaGreca and EJ. Really! And there is no more simulacast on XM Home Ice either.

Sometimes Change is not good.

7 am: So many different headlines you could write for this loss, but I like that one.

A 4 - 2 loss for Scott Gordon's Team USA against Chara and team Slovakia. The Slovak team really benefits from the Bruin's early exit from the Stanley Cup playoffs. Here they have a Captain angry and ready to win.

But it was ex-NY Islanders Miroslav Satan who really put the game away and handing Team USA a deflating loss. Satan still is an "islander" in a lot of ways. He still lives here and still trains at Islanders IceWorks in Syosset. While he hasn't played with an NHL team in a bit, he's still a force and one that his entire country looks up to. Playing hockey at this level at 37, you can understand why.

I believe Team USA now gets to sit around until Thursday when they play Belarus. I suppose Scott Gordon may do a little tinkering -- or not. They may just enjoy themselves for a few hours instead.

John Tavares has 3 points in three games so far in this competition for Team Canada and Kyle Okposo also has three (but his is two goals and one assist instead of the other way around. he he he...)

Frans Nielsen has three assist points for Denmark in three games and Mark Streit has two goals and one assist as well. What is this? The battle of 'Threes'? Not surprisingly, Nino Niedereitter is scoreless and was not on the ice for one of games the Swiss played.

International competition was supposed to help Nino. I'm hoping it isn't getting into his head and doing damage. He has the entire summer to train and more than likely, the boy will land in Bridgeport where he will hone his game and his confidence level. Nino -- you'll be okay.

I hope.
