What the Hell was Caps D, Karl Alzner thinking? Why would he be so dumb as to wake up the sleeping Bear Lucic, and thus provoke a previously docile, drowzy pack of bears??

Alzner is smarter than that, right?

The story of this series has been the the obvious power outage that has befallen the Boston scoring stars.

Chara's GWG with a buck fifty three remaining in regulation, was the first scored in this first round series by one of Boston's star players. Paille, Rolston, Pouliot, and Kelly had scored for the Bruins up to that juncture in the series, while Patrice Bergeron, Tyler Seguin, Brad Marchand, David Krecji and Lucic have combined for no goals and one assist . Chara scored the winner with Lucic and Hendricks sitting two minutes each for roughing. Smart play by Lucic to take Hendricks to the sin bin with him so that the four on four hockey would provide big ice for Chara to unleash his howitzer from the point.

Alzner was the third man in on a net-front battle between Milan Lucic and Matt Hendricks in the late stages of the third period. The score was tied 3-3 at the time. All Alzner had to do was keep his cool and to shoosh Lucic out of the way of Braden Hotby's crease. Its called discipline and maturity. How Alzner escaped with a penalty on the confrontation is beyond me. Call it justice served that the B's scored moments later.

Let the big bear growl, then he'll retreat when he knows that there is no honey for him to devour in the blue ice. Thats the logical reaction, right? So, how then does Alzner explain his poking of Lucic in the proverbial gut with a red hot poker? Alzner clearly wanted to piss off Lucic, who felt like it was his time and place to start toying with Hendricks and Alzner, and by extension, Holtby. The plan blew up in Alzner's face, as he and Lucic were shown the gate for two minutes each. What Alzner was thinking gesturing that Lucic is a crybaby is way beyond my low level of comprehension. What is this house hockey, or, is it the NHL Playoffs?

All that hard work and discipline thatt Dale Hunter had preached ad nauseum, and then pounded into the skulls of is team flew right out the window when Alzner decided to start trouble with Lucic.

Fast forward to the 14:03 mark to catch Alzner's "crybaby" smack that Lucic clowned the Caps Dman about after the Bruins win.

Here Chara's GWG. Were Alzner a thinking man's D, he'd have backed out of the scrum and allowed the refs to sort it all out. Instead, he put hi steam in a compromising position by antagonizing a fight with an angry group of bears.

Just watch th eopening of last night's Coach's Corner. Don Cherry praised Dale Hunter for letting the dopey Bruins sleep.

thanks, cbc

Hey Alzner, nice job waking the bears up.
