On Monday, the Ottawa Senators announced the call-up of highly-touted prospect and recent acquisition G Ben Bishop from the Binghamton Senators, sending another young phenom - G Robin Lehner - back down to the AHL affiliate in the process.

The move on the surface level shouldn't surprise many, as the Ottawa Senators front office all but guaranteed that Ben Bishop(2-1-0, .944 save percentage, 2.35 GAA in three starts with Binghamton) would get some serious run with the big league club over the final stretch. With Craig Anderson's status completely up in the air, Ben Bishop has a chance to come and put in some serious work, and it looks like he'll get the start as early as Tuesday v. the Tampa Bay Lightning at Tampa Bay Times Forum.

Robin Lehner, who had played well for the club, was victimized by the move. Lehner appears to have taken the news well, and I'd credit that to the front office and coaching staff for explaining the situation upon his initial call-up. On the year, Lehner's 3-2-0 in five games played, with a .935 save percentage and 2.01 GAA.

Still, the timing of this move is a bit odd. The Ottawa Senators are on the back-end of a two-game road trip and return home for a pair of road games Thursday and Saturday to face the New York Rangers and Buffalo Sabres, respectively.

At the age of twenty-five, Ben Bishop's long been regarded as the most NHL ready goaltender outside of the National Hockey League. He had trouble cracking into a suddenly deep St. Louis Blues goaltending tandem in 2011-2012, though, and was eventually packaged to Ottawa for a second-round pick.

As mentioned previously, he'll get the nod tomorrow v. the Bolts in his fourteenth career NHL start.

Back with more tomorrow.
