Some quick hits...

* I was told that The Canadiens may be talking to Columbus and may indeed be taking their newly acquired Second Rounder from Nashville with them. I do not get a strong sense the Habs are talking about Nash, but rather exploring Carter or Brassard. The Blue Jackets very much made it known they want to recoup what they gave up for Carter (a #1 pick (Couturier) and Voracek) so perhaps the Habs #2 and and #1 or a pair of picks and a prospect...etc..

* Kubina does appear to be next up.... however I am hearing he isn't exactly thrilled about handing in his teams he is interested in...I am hearing NJ, Detroit, Chicago...Philly on the other has confirmed to me, even prior to getting Grossman yesterday.

* I am hearing Ribeiro's name mentioned in connection with Chicago..thats a big cap hit to take on for the Hawks.

* There are people who believe you would have a much better shot at Nash were you willing to take Mason as well...Not sure if any team in the hunt could make that kind of combined 10M commitment for next year as well...Mason has really struggled, however he once was a star and his cap is under $3M... Could the Hawks, in need of a player or two and a goalie, make such a play?

* The Preds pick up of Hal Gill has everything to do with improving the team for the playoffs and nothing to do with Suter. He is not now suddenly available. In Gill, the Preds are adding a defenseman who could break up the cycle that the Canucks used against the Preds to perfection. Gill is also very good at frustrating star players.

more to come...round the clock from this point forward.
