10 thoughts & Game Day

Five thoughts from last night.

Evander Kane does way more damage when he can get on the inside of circles on a rush than the outside, and he needs to remember that, more importantly his team mates do to.

Is there a player on the Jets the fans want to succeed more than Burmistrov? My Twitter feed freaked out last night after he scored and mainly from ladies. Burmistrov is a shifty player and needs to quietly find the open spots. Last night was right place at the right time and hopefully he realizes he should be doing more of that.

Chris Mason was huge when the team needed him to be. Is he better a goalie than Pavelec? No but he may be better when saves absolutely must be made as he made at least 5 like that last night late in the game

Is Andrew Ladd in a funk? He played another poor game in my opinion and it's understandable, as he's got the weight of expectations of an entire franchise and fan base on is shoulders, something he may not be ready to handle.

How much does the NHL need to capitalize on a mid-west Winter Classic in Minneapolis? This rivalry after two games is hot already imagine an outdoor stadium half filled with Winnipeggers on a road trip to support their team? There was an estimate of nearly 4000 in attendance last night in Minny. Imagine a seven game playoff series?

Five thoughts on today and tonight.

Tim Campbell of the Winnipeg Free Press reported something which mildy supports my rationale for yesterday's column when he quoted GM Kevin Chevaldayoff saying the Winnipeg Jets have "no untouchables". They shouldn't, with the exception of Pavelec, as all assets should be deemed available if it can make the club better.

Zach Bogosian is not in today as he is listed as day-to-day with an upper body injury (likely a shoulder). Agains a big strong Bruins team even more pressure lies on Stuart and Hainsey and Byfuglien to play hard minutes, can they meet the challenge?

Evander Kane is the toast of Winnipeg again after a 3 point night. Everyone is hoping he can put the slump to rest and score a with frequency. Perhaps his rapid maturing has allowed him to focus on what makes him important- hockey.

The Jets now have 8 games at home- they need to have point in all of them if not win seven of eight to maintain pace in the east and hope for some help- is this even sustainable?

If Hall Gill is worth Geoffron, Slaney and a 2nd, Grossman a 2nd and 3rd, what is Oduya worth?

Game time is 7pm. I'm watching one of the kids so it's TV and suds for me and no press box reports. Enjoy the game.
