The Colorado Avalanche will have to try to improve on its 2-14-1 divisional record without its two best scorers.
Peter Mueller (torso) and Matt Duchene (knee) are both out of tonight's game against the Edmonton Oilers, according to the Denver Post.
Mueller did not participate in the morning skate but Duchene did and Duchene does have a "small chance" of playing Sunday in Winnipeg. Duchene's status has been upgraded to day-to-day.
Mark Olver, called up yesterday, will be in the lineup on a line with Ryan O'Reilly and Gabriel Landeskog. Olver, who showed grit and a nose for the net in a brief stint last year. He has been out most of the year dealing with a concussion received after an elbow to the head from Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Mike Komisarek.
Semyon Varlamov will start in net and Cedrick Desjardins will back him up as Jean-Sebastien Giguere is day-to-day with a groin injury.
